Prologue of this Book

It gives me immense pleasure to present before you Jagran Gems, the first in the prestigious series of coffee table books that Dainik Jagran plans to present before you, now annually.

Here you will find us zeroing on to achievers in smaller towns, to allot them the kind of recognition that is rightfully theirs. These are the people, who despite their immense potential, hard work and deliverance, besides comparing favourably with their counterparts in the metros, go on to miss the limelight just more than often due to simply their disadvantaged geographical location.

It is here that we intend to step in and put the clock back, so that these people too may bask in the glory of their achievements and find themselves on the larger platform that we now provide them through this series, something they had missed out on so far.

As we proceed, we further plan to categorise the future editions to focus on different segments. So if it is industrialists who will feature in one, the next may talk about builders or telecom barons. With the specific noble mission to honour and recognize, in this way we wish to highlight the profile of those amongst us, who have in some way made us all proud and benefitted society at large.

Jagran Gems, a book that marks the beginning of this illustrious journey, is a collection of articles on Small and Medium Entrepreneurs of UP. As you go through it, I am sure many will be taken by surprise at the phenomenal amount of work that is being done by all of those featured in their specific individual area of operation. Our aim remains to make the hitherto unknown transform into as one known and definitely not go unsung.
