Deepak Madhok: Ultimate In Style, Class, Sunbeam School, VaranasiDeepak and BhartiHarsh on the ramp at the Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week

A sun-bathed aura surrounds the Madhok family, owners of the Sunbeam Chain of Schools and Institutions in Varanasi. Truly living up to its name, it carries with it the brightness of extraordinary positivity, born out of concerted efforts at touching new heights in excellence, year after year. The conglomerate has today carved a niche for itself in the realm of education in the state, with seven institutions, 10,450 students and as many as 1,450 members of staff. While Deepak Madhok devotes a large part of his time to the Bhagwanpur school which he inherited from his parents, Deesh Ishrat Madhok and Amrit Lal Ishrat Madhok, he and his family, are seen working hard towards transforming their dream into reality by further bolstering the prospects of the newly added institutions to further lengthen the chain. It is their collective decisive edginess that makes the organization stand apart as they continually go on to probe new horizons. As a result, his wife Bharti, sons Harsh and Karan and daughter-in-law Neha, are all seen totally involved in the day-to-day functioning of this huge establishment.

As they sit in smart casuals in their tastefully done-up drawing room surrounded by choicest of furniture and hand-picked artifacts and crystals, they make an elegant picture, that could make anybody turn green with envy. "Sunbeam is not just a name. It is an ideology that flows into the veins of each and every person associated with it. It is the righteous and just kind of life that is important, we teach our children," says Deepak, underlining the concept that rules the philosophy of the institution chain. "There was no surprise growth of Sunbeam. It grew on its own slowly, as we all went on to add to it little by little," he says thoughtfully, reminiscing about the varied roles each one of the family members played in the years gone by. "Bharti and me tried to make it better administered. Now we have the next generation making it near perfect," he says brimming with confidence as the reason spilled over in his very next sentence. "They have been exposed to the modern education system across the globe and now can give touches of international appeal to the school." Well, it is this foresight that has given the group the acumen to forge ahead in this competitive world.

All said and done it is the down-to-earth approach of the Madhoks that has seen them come such a long way. "We like to take quick decisions. We have regular interactions with our employees, all engaged after meticulous scanning of their profile to understand their abilities and make them ideate for the betterment of the group," reveals Bharti. "Why we started at all is because we wished to give Varanasi something good, and that which it truly deserved," is what she has to say about the venture adding almost emotionally, "The people exhibited their faith and handed over their children to us."
